GTA 6 release date
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on 19 November 2026. Rockstar’s official site says “Coming November 19, 2026”, and nothing has moved since the second delay a year ago. The game was first planned for fall 2025, then moved to 26 May 2026, and then to 19 November 2026.
GTA 6 unlocks at midnight local time on 19 November on both PS5 and Xbox, Rockstar has confirmed. Our unlock time guide lists every time zone, and the GTA 6 release date guide has the full history.

GTA 6 story: what is it about?
Rockstar’s own summary starts: “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them.” When an easy score goes wrong, the two end up “on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America”, caught in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across the state of Leonida.
That is all Rockstar has said about the plot. Everything else you see online about the story is guesswork until 19 November.

GTA 6 map: where is it set?
GTA 6 takes place in Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida. Vice City returns for the first time since Vice City Stories in 2006. Rockstar has named these places so far:

- Port Gellhorn
- Ambrosia
- Mount Kalaga
- Leonida Penitentiary
Rockstar has not given an official map size. A free Leonida map will be available as a download on 19 November.
GTA 6 price and editions
The Standard Edition costs $79.99 / €79.99 and the Ultimate Edition $99.99 / €99.99. UK prices differ between shops, so check your local store. Ultimate adds “an exclusive collection of items threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story”, and you can upgrade to it later.
Pre-orders made before 20 November get the Vintage Vice City Pack. On the PlayStation Store, a digital pre-order also includes one month of GTA+ (claim before 31 March, auto-renews). Full details in our GTA 6 price guide.
Pre-load and file size
Pre-loading starts on Tuesday 10 November. On PS5 it opens at midnight local time, and on Xbox at 00:00 GMT worldwide (16:00 PT / 19:00 ET on 9 November). Rockstar says the download is up to 212 GB depending on device. There are no game discs: the boxed copy is a download code. See GTA 6 pre-order and pre-load.
Platforms, PC and PS5 Pro
- PS5 and Xbox Series X|S: confirmed. No PS4 or Xbox One version.
- PS5 Pro: the PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as “PS5 Pro Enhanced”. Sony and Rockstar have not said exactly what is improved.
- “Plays Best On PS5”: Rockstar’s site carries the PlayStation marketing badge.
- PC: not announced. More in GTA 6 on PC.
Is GTA 6 online or multiplayer?
The PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as 1 player with offline play enabled. Rockstar has not announced an online mode for GTA 6, and Take-Two says it will keep supporting GTA Online after GTA 6 launches. Crossplay, 60 fps and Game Pass are also unannounced. Read GTA 6 Online for what we know.

What is reported but not confirmed
These come from reliable reporters, but Rockstar has not confirmed them:
- Review embargo on 18 November (reported via Insider Gaming). Not confirmed by Rockstar.
- Xbox download around 225 GB, with separate builds for Japan and Australia/New Zealand (RockstarIntel). Not confirmed by Rockstar.
- Real-life versions of six in-game cars built by West Coast Customs (Hypebeast). Not confirmed by Rockstar.
