Rockstar has not announced an online mode for GTA 6. The game launches on 19 November 2026 as a story game, and GTA Online on GTA 5 will keep running after release, Take-Two has confirmed.
- GTA 6 Online: not announced
- At launch: single-player story with Jason and Lucia
- GTA Online (GTA 5): supported “after GTA 6 release and beyond”
- Multiplayer date: not confirmed
Does GTA 6 have online multiplayer?
Not that Rockstar has said. Every official word about GTA 6 so far, from the trailers to the store pages, is about the story of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos in Leonida. Rockstar has not shown or named any online mode.
That is normal for Rockstar. GTA Online launched two weeks after GTA 5 in 2013, and Red Dead Online came a month after Red Dead Redemption 2. Both were revealed close to launch.
What happens to GTA Online?
“We will continue to support GTA Online after GTA 6 release and beyond.”
Take-Two said this at its shareholder meeting in September 2026. Your GTA Online character, money and properties on GTA 5 are not going anywhere for now.
