GTA 6 Xbox file size: what was reported
RockstarIntel reported on 6 November that the global Xbox build of GTA 6 comes in at 209.86 GiB, based on store data shared by the X account @Cokymoky69. Converted to the gigabytes consoles show, that is roughly 225 GB.
That is more than the 212 GB Rockstar gave when it announced the pre-load date. RockstarIntel suggests the gap may come down to better compression on PS5. Rockstar has not commented.
| Version | Reported size | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Rockstar’s figure | Up to 212 GB | Confirmed |
| PS5 (store backend) | About 210 GB | Reported |
| Xbox, worldwide | 209.86 GiB (about 225 GB) | Reported |
| Xbox, Australia/New Zealand | 844 KiB less than worldwide | Reported |
| Xbox, Japan | About 1.2 GB less than worldwide | Reported |
Three regional builds of GTA 6
According to PlayStationSize, the PS5 version has three builds: one for most of the world, one for Japan and one for Australia and New Zealand. The Xbox data reportedly shows the same split.
The Australia and New Zealand build is almost identical to the worldwide one. The Japanese build is missing about 1.2 GB. RockstarIntel says that could point to cuts for the Japanese release, as with GTA 5, but it could also just be different languages and voice files.
Not confirmed by Rockstar: there is no official word on regional content differences in GTA 6.
How much space do you need for GTA 6?
Plan for more than the official number. If the Xbox figure holds, 212 GB will not be enough on Series X|S, and updates on launch day can add more. Free up at least 250 GB before the pre-load starts on 10 November.
